Mr. John H. Norton
Dear Sir
I am favour'd with yours relative to a Bill
of George Booth's for £150.15.4 cch. I indors'd to Colo.
Syme, I had wrote you in answer to a former
letter on this subject. In August 1773 I paid Syme
that Bill with several others, and never that I
recollect untill I receiv'd your letter, did I know it
was return'd under protest, you say a suit was
brought on the Bill, but I apprehend not aga. me.
I have also applied to Mr. Phill: Tabb the Executor
to Mr. Booth's Estate who tells me he never had notice
of the protest, he begs you will send him a state
of it. I beg you to write him on the subject, he is
a very punctual Man & I dare beleive will discharge
it shortly, therefore it woul'd be unkind to press on
the Indorsers while the principal is safe.
In regard to the Goods you mentioned of Mr. Armistead's
I bought them of you in June 1774 at 50 pCt. advance

on the Nett Goods, amount of which was £201.8.5 Sterg.
which you had Credit for & was long since settled
If you will have recourse to your private Books, you
will find that to be the case. If they have been charg'd
in the Books of J. N & Sons it is probable that may in
some measure occasion the diffr. in our Accots.
Our Complimts. to Mrs. Norton. I am
Dr Sir
yro Obedt. Servt
Wm. Reynolds
I wish you to give me
your Answer respecting the
Land near Town.
