Taliaferro Walker letter to John Norton, merchant in London, England. Walker writes concerning his tobacco and the prices garnered for tobacco in Virginia. He mentions the difficulty involved in settling the estate of Colonel Turner occasioned by Captains Denison's desire to keep the whole of the estate to himself. Taliaferro mentions a petition to King George III of which Norton was a signatory noting that some gentlemen of the Northern Neck speak ill of him for it. Taliaferro also writes concerning the Associators who adhered to the Association of May 1769.

Virginia July. 15th. 1769

Sir,

I am favour'd with yours of the 8th. of March with the good ordered
and the Acct. of Sales for three hogds. Shipt Last year From York River
Which I Procured of the Best Sort I thought Cost me 25/ pr. Hundred Cash
in Hanover I Confess I gave my self Credit for a good Price, But as I find
our River Tob. Answers much Better have shipt you Twelve hogd. Which
I am in hopes is very good, and will command the Best Price, We are
much oblige to you for the Care of our Law Suit and for the Money you
have Advanc'd for us; But am in hopes we soon shall be able to make
you Amends by shiping you a Much Larger Quantity of Tob: When
we Can gett our Part of the Est. in our Possestion, we Labour under great
Inconvencey by Capt. Denison Keeping the Whole Est. of ColoTurner
Till the Determination of this Suit. Which Enables him to Keep of the
Suit, as I Expect I am Certain he dont desire their Ever Should be an
End to it. hope you'l gett it Determined as soon as Possible and Send
us out the decree, as you are so kind to Promise in your Letter
by the first Ship from Any Port that Shall Sale, and Advise me
of it by All opportunitys, the Address you Sign'd to his Majs, some gentn.
the North side of Rappahanock Talk much About it I Cant Say it Allters
my good Opinion of you; As those very gentn (When they offer this) Tell the gentn
of the Country their Brothers, Who has Lately Married a great Fortune
of your side of Water, will take the Care of their Consignments If it Shoud be
Agreeable to the Association, this Appears to me self Intrust. Inclosed is a
Small Invoice Which Please to Send out in the Spring. I Shall be glad to
know by the First opportunity If you Cou'd Procure me a Light Post Chaise
About 35£ or 40£ Sterling against Next Summer to go with Two or four
horse's, as much Cheaper as you Please, If it Should be a Little used I
wou'd be glad to take it. I am with my Best Endeavours for your Intrest
