Virginia Augst. 12. 1769
Messrs. John Norton & Son
Gent.
I intended to have Consign'd you some Tobacco this
Year, agreeable to which I gave orders to the Inspectors at
Fredericksburg, but it seems my Tobacco was not ready
when Capn. Robertsons Vessell was there and therefore (unless
another opportunity shou'd offer) it will not be in my
power to ship you any this Year, [crossed out, illegible]
please to send me in the Spring the undermentioned
Articles & let them be packed in a large seal skin Trunk
that has a good Lock, the common Trunk Locks are to be
open'd with every Trunk Key of the sise of theirs and there
=fore will not answer the end I propose, -
I expect the undermention'd Articles will not fill the
therefore you may order such of those in it as Colo. Snelsons
that you think propper and beleive me to be verry respec=
