Dear sir

This opportunity of the mail is
the first since I received from Joseph Wat-
kins eight hundred dollars in part of
your order in my favor on [illegible]
trustees. Copland wished to have one hun-
dred pounds: I refused him; but satisfied
him by directing the next £100 to be paid him
by Watkins, and I gave an order on Watkins
accordingly — He seems to be vehement
as to Trent’s debt: I believe, however,
that I shall be able to get him to sell
the land at a short credit. But I cannot
be sure; nor at what price it will be
sold.

The 800 dollars are ready
for your immediate draught.

Yours truely
Mr Norton.
Edmund Randolph
