Williamsburg 9th. Augt. 1771
Dears Sirs,
I have already advised of my having,
at your J.H.N's Request, shipt you Ten Hhds of
Tobo. on Board of the Randolph Capn Walker, which
I desired you to insure; I have but three Hhds left,
on York River, which you'll be pleased to insure
on Board yr. Ship Virga. Capn. Robertson, who is
arrived, but I have not yet recd. any Letters.
I understand from yr. J.H.N. that his Lading will
be easily procured; if he should want, & I can
purchase twenty Hogsheads or more on reasona
ble Terms, you may depend on my giving him
all the Assistance in my Power. Having some
Money of Messrs;. Oswald''s & Mills' in my Hands, wch.
I am desirous of remiting to them immediately,
& not being able to lay it out in a Bill at this
Time, I have taken the Liberty of drawing
on you in their favour for £166..13..4 . which
you'll be pleased to charge to my private Account.
The Money Scales you sent me last
are exceedingly exact & true; I beg the favour
of you to have me a pr. made by the same Hand,
sufficient to weigh £150 or £200 of Silver at a
Drt.; to be fix'd in the same Manner to a strong
Beam, with a compleat Sett of Weights exactly
tried & stampt according to Standard & sent over by the very first Opportunity. I am, Dr. Sirs
