Virginia 16th. May 1772.
Dear Sirs,
You'll receive inclosed the second Setts of
two Bills of Exchange formerly sent, amt. £416..13.4, which
are to be placed to the Credit of the Treasury. I have
this Day drawn on you to Mr. Earnshaw, on the same
Acct., for £170.5.9 stg., which you'll be pleased to pay.
The Loss of poor Capt. Cawsey is a most melancholy Event.
I hope the Duke of Beaufort had insured Lord Botetourt's
Effects. I before advised that I had given the Capt. a Bill
on you for £75 for the Freight of these Things, to be paid
upon the Delivery; this Money will be now saved. Mr.
Edward Fisher went Passenger with Cawsey, he also had
my Bill on you for £73..18..8; he took the first & 2d., I
suppose with him, & left the 3d. with his Brother, who
proposes administering upon his Estate; if he does so, I shall
give him another Bill for the same Sum, to be paid upon
Condition of the first's not appearing. I have only to add
that I am, as at all times, Dr. Sirs,
Yr. affte. hble Servt.
