<p>Williamsburg December . 22d. 1790</p>
<p>Dear Sir,</p>
<p>I have just returned from Richmond and<br />received your letter and assure you am much surprised as well as concern<br />ed at the contents. you may inform Mr Norton that the report which has<br />reached him is altogether without foundation, nor can I imagine how it<br />cou'd have originated, had my father objected to the Union I shou'd most<br />certainly have informed him of long since. My father is averse to my marry<br />ing as soon as I wish, he thinks it wou'd have been to my advantage to<br />have waited a few years longer before I engaged myself; but he thinks<br />my choice is as good a one as I cou'd have made, and has not the<br />smallest objection on that head.</p>
<p>I am dear sir<br />yours respectfully<br />Warner Lewis Junr</p>
