Fredricksburg 30th. Novr: 1793
John Hatley Norton Esqr.
Dr: Sir
I duly received your Favour of 28th. Ulto. and
as you requested, i write to Mr. Grymes at Richmond. He
informs me Doctor Smith has declined purchasing
your Property in York. to take £300 for the part
of it which I mentioned to you in my last, would be sub
-jecting you to a Loss: but from Mr. Reynolds pre-
sent situaltion, however well he may intend, I dont
see how he is to discharge the Ballance of his bond; there
-fore under this Idea, taking His Houses &ca. as you
have done, was better than getting nothing - or it would
have been an unadvisable purchase ~ I shall wait
your further Directions on this Subject -
When will it be in your Power to make me fur-
-ther Assignments on account of Mr. Relph &ca.
for they are impatient to be paid -
I shall be obliged to you to remit me the
small Ballance due to Messrs. Wm. Anderson & compa.
P accot. handed you last April -
Dr. Sir your most obedt.
