Richard Gwathmey letter to John Norton, 1768 August 1

Richard Gwathmey letter to John Norton, merchant in London. Gwathmey acknowledges the receipt of Norton's letter and the awls and shoe fasts which came by the Brilliant. He informs Norton that he is sending a hogshead of tobacco on the Brilliant and complains of the awl blades he received explaining that they are too sharp and overpriced. He orders 300 ells of brown linen and 2 pieces of Irish shirting.

with the goods & that you rec^d. my hhd. Tob^a. in good order
makes me in good hopes of as good a price as my Neighbours.
as to some Aul Blades & Shoe. Fasts I am Oblig'd to
Complain which you sent in. 12. Duz. Aul Blades-
at 1⁄8 p duz^n. they are two [crossed out, illegible] sharp for me
12. duz. Shoe Fasts at. 8^d have Bought them here at
times at. 3^d. & 4^d. p duz. it must be a mistake
