Dear Sir

You will receive by the London one Hogshead of my Tobo.
left out by Esten and inclosed you have Henry Lees 2d. Bill on Wm. Lee for
£31..3..9 Sterling when paid to be carried to the Credit of My Account.

It is unneccessary to particularize our Public Affairs here you will be
fully informed from the Gazettes I send you by this Opportunity.

The Convention which has been sitting at Richmond for
six Weeks is expected to break up tomorrow and the Delegates from this
Colony will then sett off to meet in Congress the 5th. of next Month at ~
Philadephia. Nothing can give all America more real Pleasure than
a Reconciliation with Great Britain but rather than submit to an illegal
and unjust Claim of Taxation the whole Continent are determined to
defend their Rights to the last extremity. I hope the true friends to both
Countries on your side the Water will interpose and prevent the ~
shedding of more blood in this unnatural and unhappy dispute.

You will be pleased to deliver the inclosed to my brother
and Mr. Milson present my respectful Compliments to Mrs. Norton and believe me to be
with much esteem

Dr. Sir
Your friend and hble Servt.
Thos. Everard
24 August 1775.

Mr. Norton.
