Nathaniel Burwell letter to John Norton, merchant of London, England. Burwell writes Norton that he is suffering from gout; has sent him tobacco; delivered ham and cider to his warehouse and would like help in ending his indebtedness to Cary.

Burwell sent an Invoice of goods with this letter.

Dear Sir

I should have wrote by your Ship but was so Ill
with the Gout that could not nor do I now do it with-
out pain. Am sorry it was not in my power to send
you more than one Hh^d. Tobacco but it was all I made
I sent you Cider & some Hams to the Ware House some time
since but have lately been informed they never sent for
them nor do I know how to contrive them as I believe
most if not all the Ships are gone Inclosed is an
Invoice for a few Goods which should be glad you
would send. I desired your Son last Fall to mention to
you that I was desirous of Shiping you all my
Tobacco except two or three Hh^ds. to M^r. Barkhouse
but that I was Indebted to Cary's House which if you
would discharge I would gladly pay Interest for
the Money besides esteeming it a particular favour
should be glad of a answer to this part of my Letter as
soon as may be, if you can relieve me out of their
hands you will do me a greater favour ever was
done me by Man our best wishes attend you M^rs.
