Gentn.

I wrote you some time ago advising
the receipt of Invoice of Goods &ca shippd in the United
Grocers by Leith. I got them all safe to Glasgow last
Wednesday, but they were too late for the Patty she
sailed the next day. Under Cover you have my
Acceptence for the balance (I deducted Mr. Claytons
Bill of £106 and my order on Mr. Gist for £4.19.9 wch.
I expect you have received, also five p cent on thes two
sums) £294.12.10 pble the 1st February next as the
Goods did not come in time for me to go in the Patty
am afraid I will not be able to remitt you for them
by that time - but on your receiving five pCent In:
:terest I hope a few Months will make [illegible] odds
they shall be the first I remitt for. The Bill I
hope will answer the same end as a Bond. I had
no stampd paper nor did I understand how it
should be drawn or I wd have sent it. I propose
going in the next ship that goes from this place to
N York that will take freight. I expect it will not
be in less than five or six weeks. I will write you fully
before I sail and am Gentn.

with much respect
Yr. most obt. Servt
Pat Hart

I drew on you in favr. of Mr. John
Mc. Donald for £238.4.8. some time
ago wch. hope you honourd
