King William Sepr. 15th. 1768

Sir

I have shiped you by Capt. Robertson
one hhd tobacco which I believe to be exceeding good
and make no doubt of its turning out so when it
arrives in England. You wrote me word that you
had received my last hhd in good order and am
a little surprized that you did not send me my
Acct. of Sales as my Neighbours have received
theirs for tobacco shiped at the same time.

Am sorry to hear that my hhd. shiped some
time agoe which you gave me Four pounds odd
money for should prove so rotten as I take all the
pains I posibly can to make it clean & good.

I wrote you by Capt. Anderson some
time agoe but dont Immagine it ever came
to hand requesting you to examine your books
(private) about Two hhds of tobacco I let George
Peay have of mine in order to discharge the
balance of his bond due to Norton & Hill. I think you
kept the tobacco, which was Marked with my
mark and gave Credit in Norton & Hill books
for as much money for I se by those books there
is Credit given by John Norton for £25 odd
shillings wch. I think with some land you

Purchased of Peay & the tobacco made up about
that sum. (The Land was trifling) this was done in
the year 1753 as well as I remember, As George
Peay is dead the Executors obliges me to prove my
Account and it is Imposible for me to do it unless
you can remember you did receive the tobacco of
him which was marked with my mark. I see by
the Warehouse books that two hhds tobacco was shiped
by you on your Own Accot. I beg youl do all [ms. torn]
your power to clear it up for me as I must certain
ly loose it unless you can recollect something about
it til then I remain

Sir
Your most hum Servt.
John Lipscombe
