Dear Sir.
In my last I sent you sundry Bills of
Excha. on Glasgow, but chiefly payable in London,
for £1364.15.9½ Stg., which I desired might be placed to
my Credit, as Treasurer in a distinct Acct. to be open'd
for that Purpose. In doing this I avail'd myself of yr.
Friendship merely to accommodate my Office, as I knew
I should very speedily have Occasion to draw for the
greatest Part of the Money. I have this Day drawn on
you in favr. of Mr. Montagu for £100 6.6. & to Mr. Will:
Bowden for £32.16, both Sums to be charged to this Acct.
I have likewise drawn on you in favr. of Miss Ludwell
for £100 stg, which you'll be pleased to charge to my
private Acct.
We are very anxious to know what the
great Men, on yr. Side of the Water, intend to do with the
poor Americans; if any interesting Occurrences should
happen, we depend that our Friends will give us the earliest
Intelligence of them, & I should be glad to see all the
Pamphlets wrote upon the grand Subject, which is so
much agitated. Pray give my Compliments to my Friend
Dr. Lee; I have not Time to write to him at present, but
will do it by some other Opportunity. Your Son is still
up the Country; his Boy pass'd to York thro' this Town
last Week & I understood his Master was very well.
I am with great Esteem for you & all yours, Dr. Sir,
Yr. affte. & mo. obt. Sert.
Ro. C. Nicholas
