Williamsburg 16th. February 1769
Dear Sir.
I did not think when I wrote to you last that
I should so soon have Occasion to trouble you with
another Draught, but really the Demands upon the Office,
I am in, have been so urgent that I can't avoid it. I have
therefore drawn on you of this Date in Favr. of Mr. John
Greenhow for £400 Stg., which I don't doubt your
duly honouring, agreeable to your repeated friendly
Offers. How my Crop of Tobo. may turn out, I don't yet
know, but I fear rather short in Quantity, & my Steward
complains pretty much of the Quality. Tobo. is likely to be
at a high Price this Year; I'm told that it sells pretty
currently at the upper Warehouses from 25 to 27/p ct.
I should be glad of the earliest Intelligence of the State
of yr. Market & how my last Consignment is likely to turn
out. As I am really fearful of some of my last Summer's
Crop, I am looking out for some other that I think will
Suit your Market better; I have already purchased Wm.
Graves's Crop, which he told me he was determin'd
to sell in the Country & says there will be about a dozen
Hhds of it. I hope your Ship will arrive early & any Endea:
ours of mine shall not be wanted to promote her
Dispatch. I am with my best Wishes for you & all yrs. Dr. Sir,
Yr. affte. hble Sert.
Ro. C. Nicholas
