Dear Sir.

I have wrote to you several Letters lately adv
sing of my Draughts to Miss Ludwell for £100, Miss Molly
Davenport for £100 & Mr. Greenhow for £400 Stg, which
I don't doubt you will duly honour; I sent you in my last
a small Bill on the Revd. Mr. Waring for £34. I don't know
how my Acct. may stand, but you may rest assured
that I will not suffer you to be long in Advance for me.
I find it a vast Advantage to my Credit to have such
a Friend, on whom I can have recourse; it enables me
effectually to support the Credit of my Office in these
Times of Difficulty, &, I'm in Hopes, you will be laid un:
der no Disadvantage. Should your advancing Money
for me from Time to Time not be sufficiently recom:
penced by the Consignments I make you, I must make
it up by allowing you Interest, or in any other Way
you may think most reasonable. You see the Confi:
dence I repose in you, & I trust this is reciprocal on
your Part. I don't know how much Tobo. I shall be able
to send you this Year; my Crop is short & I fear [ms. torn]
in Quality; but I am looking out for some other & have
already purchased Graves's, which he says will be
ten or twelve Hogsheads; I am to pay him 25/ p ct. in
Apl. I'm in Hopes I shall not be obliged to trouble
you with a Bill for this; but, if I should, you'll not
think much of it, I know. As many Letters as I have lately
wrote, I entirely forgot to obey the Order of the last House
of Burgesses in sending for a Number of Prayer Books
for the use of the Assembly. Pray send me by the very
first Opportunity six dozen in Octavo neatly bound
with the new Version of singing Psalms & the
Virginia Arms impress'd on one of the Covers;
I would wish to have them of a good Type.

I always am with my best Wishes for you
& your's, Dr. Sir,
Yr. affte. & mo. obt. Sert.
Ro. C. Nicholas
