Dr Sir
I receiv'd your favour of 25th Decemr.
and note the contents. In regard to Mr. Powells
Estate, it cannot be known whether there has
been a mal Adminstration, untill she settles
her Administration Accot., I should suppose
he must have died posses'd of enough to pay
his debts. It is not in my power to inform
you who has sued an extent aga. Wilkins Estate
as a Man of honour & veracity I declare to you
I do not recollect the circumstances relative to
your dispute wth. Mr. Savage.
In regard to my own debt I observe you say if
I will give you Security you will wait untill
April, I do not know it would be in my power
to obtain Security, it is what I have always
avoided myself and I should not chuse to ask
it of others. I think the proposal I made of
[Page 2]
selling my property and paying you the Bonds
is as much as an unfortunate debtor can do for his
Creditor, I have ever shewn a disposition in
this Affair wth. Messrs. Jno. N & Sons to do as far as in
my power what I thought just & right, other=
=ways I might have availd myself of the law
and have put paper in the Treasury. If you are
determin'd to pursue this matter with rigour, it
will probably defeat your wishes as well as mine
wch. is to pay you as soon as I possibly can.
I am wth. regard
Dr Sr.
