Dr Sir/

Your offereing to assist in settleing
an old Acct - with Mesrs Norton &
sons, has given me hopes that the
ballance due me, which the company
will find amounted in the year 1775
to £21.19.11 ^sterg. will in a short time be
paid. With respect to interest as a
Majority of the British Merchants refu=
=sed to allow it to their American Correspon=
dents while the late war continued, I
shall not expect it during that time.
(But I trust that both you & the part=
=nership will think it right I shou'd
receive it from the time that peace
