Snickers Mill. October 25th.. 1795
Dear Sir
I received yours of yesterdays date & am
truly sorry to find Messrs. Thompson & Vietch
have not negotiated my draft - they sold
fifty on Bars. flour for me at sixty days at 66/-
68/- which becomes due the 15th. next month &
have sent them since forty nine Bars. which I
requested them to make Sale of to meet my draft
these two sums would have fallen little shoret of
making up the sum, & could have had the residue
down this week which I informed them I would
do so to have had more than sufficient in their
hands long before, my draft in the Bank had
become due - and was assured they would under
these circumstances, have obtained the money
for me from the Bank, though they had not
the full amt. of funds in hand - and am very
[Page 2]
much distressed to find any confidence misplaced
as it may be productive of inconvenience to
you -
I shall however endeavour to make you up
the greatest part of the money this week and
if I cannot succeed in the whole amt. I will
go down to Alexandria & by negotiating the
Bill for the first Sale of flour I can be certain
to do it - & effect it by the middle of next
week -
I hope you will not tell then suffer any
great inconvenience - if you will please
inform me & will endeavour to make my
exertions correspondent with your wants.
I am very respectfully
Your ob hble Servt
Matthew Wright
