Virginia James Town August 31. 1769

Sir.

I Received yours of March. 31. 1769 which
Cover'd an Account of Sails of 3 hogsheads Tobacco, much to my
Satisfaction. This now Covers a Bil of Lading for 8 hogsheads
which I hope will Come safe to hand. I have also shipd
you 3 hogsheads on board a Ship in York river which I hope your
Son has sent you a bill of Lading for as I understand
the Ship has Saild. All that I now request is that you
will apply the money which you have in your hands
in makeing promp payment for the duty of my Tobacco
as far as it will go, I ask no more then in Justice
I have a wright to, and hope you I intend to keep a Sum
of money in your hands for that purpose. Be pleas'd to
let me know your determination on the above matters
by the first oppertunity and you will much oblige
