Virginia September 4th. 1769

Sir/

Your Favour of the 29th April now
lays before me & must say I am Extreamly obligd
to you for your Favours Although you Mention your
Protesting £50 of my ^bill Drawn on you for £20
Payable Mr. David Jamison, Knowing it's Occati=
-oned by ^my own Neglect in Not Acquainting you
timely enough to Prevent your Payment of my
Draft on you Payable Mr Goose.

This I was in Hopes wou'd have Came to Hand
per the Briliant Captain Robinson. with a Consign-
=ment of a Few hogsheads of Tobacco which I had Purchas
=ed in our County of Transfer, but was unfortunate
=ly Prevented by the Tobacco's not being Priz'd
in time. Occation'd by the Inspectors being Con
=fined to their Sick Familys, therefore as I have
mist this Opportunity of Shiping per your Ships
Shall Coninue the Tobacco in the Warehouse till
Next Spring at which time I Hope to Remit you
Tobacco to Suffice, I beleave there will be much
Shorter Crops of Tobacco made this Year then last
Occationd First by the Scarcity of Plants & now
A General Drought which will Totally Ruin
all Latter Tobacco - if Miss Lucy Basset Roscow
Now Mrs Thompson, Shou'd be any thing in
Arrears to you, Please to be so good to Advise me
as I am Impower'd by Mr John Thompson Senior
with whom She Intermarried. to Discharge it
I am with Respect to self Lady & Residue of your
Family
