Williamsburg 28th. Decr.1769
Dear Sir.
I have before advised you of my Draft in favr
of Capt. Robert Necks for £100 st., & have since drawn on you
to Mr. Emml. Jones for £10 st. which you'll be pleased to honor.
I send you inclosed Mr. Nelson's Bill on Mr. Cary for £200 st,
which you'll be pleased to place to the Credit of my private
Account. I likewise send you sundry Bills amounting,
as P List to £722..4.. st. on Acct. of the Treasury. I have drawn
on you for £100 to Mr. Wmr. Paradise,
& have likewise sent Mr. Montagu an Order for £500 st.
payable the 25th. of March next, whcn his Salary becomes
due; which three last Sums are to be charged to my
Account, as Treasurer; the rest of the Money lodged in yr.
Hands I shall not, perhaps, have Occaison to draw for
'till the last of April or Beginning of May, but, if my
Occaisons should oblige me to do it sooner, I will advise
you. I had almost forgot to mention a small Bill I gave
Mr. Carter a few Days since for £36.14.8 st. which is likewise
to be charged to the Treasury Account.
Our Countrymen are desirous of introducing
Copper Money amongst us & in the last Assembly address'd
the Governor to intercede with his Majesty to allow it
to be current. So soon as the King's Proclamation ap.
pears for that Purpose, I am directed to import as many
half Pence as £2,500 st will purchase; but as I am pretty much

a Stranger to a Thing of the Sort, I should be glad of your
Advice, in the mean Time, how it is to be procured upon the
Best Terms. Your J.H.N. has been up the Country for
some Time; the last Time I heard from him he was very
well. Wish you & your's a long & uninterrupted Series
