Letter of Philip Whitehead Claiborne to John Norton concerning the estate of Captain William Langborn of New Kent County, Virginia. Claiborne informs Norton that he has sent 5 hogsheads of tobacco on account of the estate and would like a copy of the estate's current account with Norton. Claiborne has enclosed a list of goods which he would like Norton to procure against the estate's account.
Philip Whitehead Claiborne was a resident of King William County, Virginia. He was the executor of Langborn's estate. Captain William Langborn emigrated from England to New Kent County, Virginia where he grew tobacco. William Cowne, one of the executors, was Langborn's brother-in-law.

By the Rachel & Mary Capt Wm
Anderson, the Executors to Capt Langborn's Estate
sent five Hdd of Tobacco Consigned to you.
You will herewith receive an Invoice for sundery
family Goods, which you are desired to send by
yr Ship in the Spring. I expect the Goods now
ordered will exceed the Value of the Tobacco, but
you shall have what is made this Year, after
paying the dues &C. I immagine you have a bala.
in your hands due the Estate, please to transmitt
me a Copy of yr Acct Current with Capt Langborn.
