Virga. 12th. June 1771.

Dear Sirs,

I have this Morning given Mr. William
Marshman, Lord Botetourt's Steward, my Bill on
you for £80 st.g due to him for Wages &c., which
you will be pleased to honour. He proposes re:
miting it to his Wife, & if she should have im:
mediate Occasion for any part of the Money,
you'll oblige me by paying it to her. I did not care
to alter the common usance, but Marshman
is a person of great Merit in my Estimation &
therefore I wish to accomodate him as well as
I can, without puting you to any Inconvenience.
