14 July Virginia 1771

Dear Sir

I am to acknowledge your kind
favour of the 9 of March by my Son
you will I hope receive this by him
with his load in good order this has
been a rare year with the Captns how
the next will be god knows but hope
as we have had fine seasonable weather
that we shall not find such Damages
from the Freshes as was apprehended another
year as to the Present there is still more
Tobo left than the Ships can take in
I have been very near accepting your
offer concerning the Mill how could you
thro such a temptation in the way of a
Widow I assure you if I had thought
you son would not have sufferd by my
absence I should certainly have brought
Miss Nicholas over for her Health I mean

Miss Betty She has been under my care
these Six weeks the Docrs Prescribe a
Voyage any where her Father chuses
England but will not consent to her
going with any body but My Self
She is however Mending if She cant
recover without I must undertake a
voyage with her in the fall if Mr
Norton keeps well he is at Present
very well is going to the Mountains
again which hope will keep him from
the Ague and fever August over he will
be out of danger for this Season and I
earnestly recommend his returning home
next Spring tho I hardly know how I
Shall Part with him but am convinced
this climate will not Do for him

I thank you for your consignment of Tea
which I have Sold and shall remitt the
Ballance by this opportunity yr Son took

Six Pounds of the 24 to oblige Some
friends which made the quantity for
me only 18 lb. Must beg the favour
of you to hasten My Son Willms return
or he will Make Some bad Debts here
indeed he ought not to have gone
without Secureing them I Shall write
him upon the Subject we are in
hourly expectation of Seeing Robertson
hope George will be able to carry you
the news of his Arrival God Send the
Lyon a good Passage Says
