Virginia 15th Januy, 1767.
Mr. Norton
Sir,
I receved your letter by the Hands of Mr. William
Cary wherin you were desierous to know whether I would choose
to accept of Mr DeJerseys offer of Three Hundred Pounds,
Sterl.g and relinquish all other right or Title to Mr Sauveaires
Estate, which on Mature deliberation, considering the distance
I live at, and the inconveniencys attending a Law Suit, I think
proper to accept his offer, and should be proud Sir, you would,
Endeavour to get it in your hands as soon as possible, and acqu
aint me ther of by the first opportunity; Inclosd you've a letter
to Mr. DeJersey wherin I have acquainted him as above & have
desierd him to pay you the above sum, on consideration of which
and your receit for so much receiv'd; I am willing to give up all
right or title I am or may hereafter be possest of as to that,
Estate; Inclosd youve also a small Invoice of sundry articles wh
I am in great want of, and shall esteem it a great favour if,
you'll please send them by the first opportunity I am sory to
to acquaint you of the death of my mother and Sister Cary
who both died a few weeks Since,
I Sincearly hope your Self and Mrs. Norton & family ingoy
a perfect State of health, and am
