Hanover County York River Sept. 5th. 1771
Gent:
I Rec:d yours p the Briliant with Acc:t of Sales for my Tobacco and
the Goods I ordered in good order and have Shipt you one hh:d Tob:o
on Board the Cap:t Robinson TM N:o 4 which I
hop will get Safe to your Care and to a Good market, as we have -
Sustained a Great loss of Tob:o in the Several Warehouses in -
Virginia Occasioned by a Large Fresh which took large Quantities
of Tob:o from the Warehouses and wash't most part of the Crop -
growing on the Low grounds quite away, therefore cannot
be more than 2⁄3 of a Crop made this Year, I make no Doubt -
but you will have a full Account of the loss of Tob:o in Virginia
and if you find that Tob:o is like to Rise you will do the best
you can for me in the Sale of my Tob:o and sedn me the under
mentioned goods by first opportunity and Oblige.
