John Carter, Williamsburg merchant, letter to John Norton, merchant of London, England, informing Norton that he has sent 10 hogsheads of tobacco. Carter writes that he will ship more if a good price is realized for the current shipment.

Gentlemen

My last was the 15th of July w^ch refer to-
Inclosed is Cap^t. Robertson's Bill of Loaden for
Ten hhds of Tobacco w^ch are very heave & hope will
fetch a price sufficient to Induce me to ship more

Tobacco is now at 25/. & the planters even think
they shall get 30/ soon
