York Virga. Apl 30. 1772

Dr Sir

I have recd. a letter from my old
acquaintance Cap Sargent wherein he informs
me that he has settled all his affairs with his
Creditors and that he now has a right to
receive any old debts due to him before he failed
without hindrance from the Assignees. There is
in my hands recd. for goods sold on his Accot. sixteen
pounds nineteen Shillings and two pence Sterl.
which sum I shall be much obliged to you to pay
him on my Accot. if it can be done with safety but
if there is any disputes between him and his
assignees it may be proper to take security to
endemnifie me this he offers and has desired
me to lodge a letter for him with you     I have now
wrote to him directed to your care and have told
him you will pay the money on his making me
secure You will oblige me in paying to him. Our
Friend W R is just returned from the Northward
