Williamsburg 1st. July 1772.
Dear Sirs.
In a former Letter I desired the favour
of you to insure 23 Hogsheads of Mr. Edward Ambler's
Tobo. on Board of Capt. Gooseley, understanding there would
be that Number, but now find there will be
only 19 & three of my own. You'll be pleased also to
insure on my Account 41 hhds on Board of the
Virginia, Capt. Robertson; I was in hopes that
I should have been able to send you 50, but my
Crop has turn'd out amazingly short of what I
expected, even after the fresh. I have wrote to you
so often of late on the Subject of Copper Money,
that I hardly can suppose but one of my Letters must
have got to Hand. I will only add upon this Head,
that our Assembly will be pleased to receive £1000 st.g
Value in half pence, exclusive of charges, to be
coin'd in the Manner Lord Hillsborough proposed.
We are all contented that the Word Peace should be
left out of the Inscription on Lord Botetourt's Sta:
tue & leave it to you to adopt either of the designs you
favour'd me with, tho we should rather prefer

that, which has the Branch or Vine runing up the
inner side of the right Hand. Accept my best
wishes for you & all yours & believe me,
Dr. Sir,
Yr. affte. hble Servt.
