William Cowne letter to John Norton & Son, 1772 July 16

William Cowne letter to John Norton & Sons, merchants of London, England concerning the estate of William Langborn. Cowne writes concerning his efforts to ship the estate's tobacco and his desire to have it insured. He instructs Norton not to furnish and goods to the estate unless directed to do so by himself. Cowne also requests Norton send an account current.

Sir

I have been trying all the Summer to gett Cap^t Langbourns
Crop ab^t 5 hhds tob^o to Ship to you but have hither to only
been able to gett but two hhds w^ch I have this day Given Cap^t
Robertson an order for. so that I must Desire you will
insure eight pounds on every hhd that I shall Ship for that
Estate in the Virginia Cap^t. Robertson It being quite
uncertain how many hhds I shall gett from the widdow
therefore I know no other way at present to order the
Insureance - Pray send no more goods
or pay ought for the future unless I ord^r. for the Estate
& I do hereby Desire you will take the late legacy left,
them. I hear Since M^r Smith was at home, I am told
it Lays in Sergant or Doctor Nares's hands,
