Battaile writes that she has sent 3 hogsheads of tobacco and to request that the goods she is ordering on the enclosed invoice be sent by the first possible ship. She notes that her last shipment contained cheese which went bad due to the heat of the season and Norton's vessels not delivering to her river (the Rappahannock).

Sir

I send you 3 hhds. Tobo. by the Virginia
Capt. Robertson, if you cou'd contrive to send our goods by
Your earliest Ship it wou'd sute us much better, besides your
Ship not coming to our River prevents our geting the Goods
for some considerable time after the Arrival, we have got the Last
within a fortnight past, the Cheese unfit for use, by lying in the
Country so long at this hot Season, to prevent which for the future
be pleas'd to have it Secur'd in Lead, you'l be pleas'd to Order the
Goods According to Invoice And place them to Acct. of
