George Carrington, Williamsburg, Virginia, letter to John Norton and Son, merchants of London, England, dated August 8, 1773. Carrington writes that he and Miles Selden, have sent the Nortons 18 hogsheads of tobacco, the property of the estate of Phillip Mayo. Carrington also notes that as they are in want of cash they have drawn on Norton for a sum of £123.1.6 payable to James Lyle.

You have Eighteen hogsheads of Tobo. Ship'd to
you belonging to the Estate of Philip Mayo deceased,
it is Ship'd in the name of myself & Miles Selden
Exrs. of that Estate, & directed to be insured at £9 a hhd,
we are now in immediate want of Cash, therefore have
drawn on you for £123.1.6 payable to Mr. James Lyle
at Sixty day Sight, which Please to pay & charge to
that Estate. am -
