Robert Carter Nicholas letter to John Norton, merchant in London. Nicholas sends the letter with Mr. Tabb for whom he requests Norton's civilities. Nicholas requests insurance for his tobacco shipments and informs Norton of a draft he has made on him for £100 to Thomas Everard and incloses a copy of Francis Whiting's exchange.

Williamsburg 22^d. July 1768

Dear Sir.

M^r. Tabb just embarking for London, I
take the Opportunity by him to desire the Favour of
you to insure for my Acc^t. forty Hhds of Tob^o. on
Board the Randolph Cap^t. Walker. In a late
letter I desired you would insure the like Quantity
by your own Ship; but I have increased the
Quantity to 47 Hogsheads w^ch. make in the
whole 87; you'll be pleased to insure that
Number. I send you a Copy of Fr. Whiting's Exch^a.
for £100 St^g.; the first by Esten. By the next
Ship I shall remit you Bills for about £300 St^g.
It gives me great Credit to have so good a
Friend, on whom I can value myself, as Occa:
sions offer. I have drawn on you to Day
for £60 St^g. to M^r. Everard, which you'll please
to honor, I am at present very unwell
& therefore conclude
