Edinburgh 20th. Decr 1776

Gentn.

This will be handed you by two of
my Brothers, Robert & Thomas who are this
far on their way to London in order to go to
India having been so lucky as to get births
out to that place. The great kindness you
have always shewn us, makes me take the
liberty to recommend them to you whatever
Civility you may shew them. I shall consid
-er as shewn to myself. Tom lived some time
with his Brr. John in Virga. and as he is a litle a
quanted with business hope he will do very
well. Bob I believe you have seen before
as he was in London wth. his Brr. he goes
out as a Mait or a Midshipman am un-
=certain whether or not they are allowed to
carrie any Goods to India - but if they
are imagine they will be able to procure
some creditt on insuring their lives as they
have letters recommending them in the
Strongest terms to several Gentln. in London
should

should they be in want of Money (as they
are not certain what time they may be obligd
to say in London and may not have anugh
with them) be pleased to furnish them wth.

received informing me of your having recd
payment from Mr Lee for the Hhd tobo shipped
him by the prospect will write you more
fully on my return to Glasgow where an
