Walmer 19th. October 1780
Sir,
I Recd. your letter yesterday Noon on a
Sick Bed. After a very dangerous Nights Illness with
my old Complaint (the Billious Collick) I gave the
letter you inclosd me to my Freind Mr. Denward
who was Just then takg a Ride to Deal & promisd.
to put it in the Hands of Mr. Oakly the Dutch
Agent there, being the Most Certain Conveyance,
which Mr. Denward on his return Informd. me he had
done but that Unfortunately it had come half
an Hour too late, their Boat with letters for that
Ship haveg gone on board & the wind then at NE
the Ship was Under Sail. Mr. Denward left the letter
with Mr. Oakly who promisd. to put it on board the
first Ship Bound to where it was directd. but as the Wind
is now blowg. hard from the SW the Ship in all
probabillity will be back Again to day and
if Any Boats go on board it has the greatest chance
from where it is left as the Capt. is well known to
Mr. Oakly. I had a Doctor to Attend me yesterday & am
Now much better better After takg Six Draughts
last Night, if Any thing Material in the Political
line happens I shoud be glad of a line from you I
Cannot Conclude without urging you in the most
pressg. Manner Not to trust too much to our Quondam
