Barbados 23d May 1782.
Mr: James Withers
Dear Sir.
Herewith is a duplicate of my last with a Third
Voucher of the loss I sustain'd by having my House burnt the 3d
March, and I hope that ere this reaches you that you have got the
loss paid by the Fire Office - Your favour of the 6th April by
the Packett is come to hand and as I find you had declin'd Shipping
me the Flour (which I am not displeas'd at) I therefore, agreeable to
your desire have drawn on you in favour of Capt. Robert Clarke
for the £125 ~ for my Nephew's draft on you for this Sugar -
I have had no Letter from my Nephew since I last wrote you
tho' I have hear he was well, and gone to Curracoa with Mr.
Reeves, your Letters for him I shall forward to St. Croix, where
I hope he may be this time; I am truly happy to find there is
a prospect of a Peace with America, which I sincerely hope may be
on such a Footing that in a few years will Establish that Union
between England and the Colonies as once was; I am with Regard
