David Jameson, York, Virginia, letter to John Hatley Norton, Winchester, Virginia, dated July 10, 1784. Jameson writes that he rented his house in Yorktown to Mr. Rowsey after the siege of Yorktown. Mr. Rowsey said the house did not contain the furniture about which Norton inquired. Jameson also requests Norton pay his debts to himself, Mrs. Minnis and the store kept by Mr. Smith.

York July 10. 1784

D Sir

I have enquired of Mr Rowsey (to
whom I rented my House immediately after the
siege) - He assures me there was no such
piece of furniture as you mention, in any
part of the House. Your Bond for one thousd.
pounds is dated the 26. Febry 1779 - the Money
is really much wanted, and I shall be obliged
to you to make the paiment as soon as possible.
I hope you have by this time recd the Accots.
from England - I wish to know the balance
that is due to me, and as I owe some Money
in England should be glad if it can be paid there

Mrs. Minnis desires me to inclose you
the Copy of a letter she some time ago wrote
to you, and prays a speedy answer, being
much distres'd by the Creditors to her Husbands
Estate I am Sir Yr mo hb Serv

I find you a debtor on the Books of
the Store kept by Mr Smith and
shall be obliged to you to discharge
the Balce. as soon as possible, as those
Books must be closed
