Petersburg Septr. 1784

Sir

This day was presented with
your Draught on me for Foure
Hundred Pounds by Mr. John Hartshorn of
Richmond payable at 15 days sight
which I Dfered to Accept for the Balla.
I might owe you which I told him would
not be quite that sum as I had sent
12 days ago £57.5.6 to Mr. Leighton Wood on
your Accot. this he said would not sute
him as he only had the matter to trans
act for another person he had Rather not
have aney thing to doe with it & Return
the Bill to the person that had sent it
to him: I Wrought Mr Wood I should
sertanly pay the Balla. in Octr next
Which you may depend on. I shall I hope
send him Two Hundred pounds more in
ten days from this I am Sir your Mo H St
