Recto
Sir
I have just time to write You by Capt
Esten to desire You to send me immediately
100 groce of the best Viol Corks packed in a box
& marked for me in Wmsburg. I this morning
saw your Son as he passed through Town in his
way to Hanover Court; I told him I had one Hoghd of
Tobacco (which is all I made, as I don't grow but little
on my plantation) ready for Him; and If I can get
any on reasonable terms, shall purchase three
more for you; but as it is a precarious Ar=
ticle to deal in, am not fond of buying,
having smarted pretty much for it at the Conclu=
sion of the last War, though what little I make
intend for the future to send to you. I flatter
my self, that I am so well known to Mr Norton
as not to be refused this Trifle, therefore shall
expect them by the first Ship after the receipt
of this, as I can't carry on my business for
want of them. I am with great respect
Yr most Obedt Servant
James Carter
