Baltimore 5th. August 1788.

Dear Sir,

I shall be much obliged to you to
forward me a Certificate of your having loaded
the Brigantine Governor Johnson for Congress,
as Continental Agent, in the year 1777; and
of her detention in James River, to [illegible] the
Enemy, until she was leaky and obliged to be
unloaded, repaired, and reloaded and finally
of her Capture at Norfolk or Portsmouth on
her attempting to get out. - Your Books will
furnish you with the particular Facts as to
her loading & detention - I think you put
aboard five Hundred Hhds - the Captns. name was
"Henry Auchinlick" - We chartered her to Congress
(i.e. Lux & Bowly) to load for France and Congress
insured her at her value. I have Mr Morriss's
Certicates of the Charter, and only want yours
of your having loaded her by the orders of Congress to

to compleat a settlement of my Accot. when I am to
receive final settlements in payment for good Money
advanced so long ago - Be pleased to forward it
by the very first hand coming this way.
