William Armistead letter to John Norton and Son, 1769 July 27

Title

William Armistead letter to John Norton and Son, 1769 July 27

Date

Description

Letter of William Armistead to John Norton, merchant in London. Armistead informs Norton that he has sent 2 hogsheads of tobacco which he would like insured. Armistead includes a list of goods he would like sent in exchange for his tobacco stipulating that the goods not exceed the prices stated. This stipulation and Armistead's closing suggests he wants these prices to conform to the Virginia Association of 1769 which was adopted in response to the Townshend Acts.
