Description

Letter from John Norton, merchant of London, England, to his son and partner, John Hatley Norton, in Yorktown, Virginia. Norton writes that he is sending a copy of the list of goods subject to the American duty; insurance is to be made on the cargoes of Outram and Robertson; all the birds are dead; Mrs. Norton sends thanks for candles and hams; Captain Esten has 114 hogsheads of tobacco and one of Snakeroot. Norton also writes concerning the Virginia Association of 1769 in response to the Townshend Acts. He hopes it convinces the Ministry that they are wrong.
