Nicholas writes that he received the letter and parcel of goods for Colonel Philip Johnson. He also notes he received the letter sent by Dr. Clements with whom dined. Nicholas writes he will extend Clements every civility and notes that Norton's son, John Hatley, is well.

Williamsburg in Virga. 27th. Octr.
1769

Dear Sir.

I have received your Favour accom:
panyed by the Parcels of Goods for the use of
Colo. Philip Johnson's Estate & thank you for
your early Attention to that Concern. I have
also received your last Favour by Dr. Clements
who did me Favour to dine with us yesterday; I
think him a very promising young Gentleman,
& shall take great Pleasure in shewing him every
Civility, which my Friend's Recommendation
justly entitles him to, Your Son was very well
two Days ago & I suppose you will hear from
him by Capn. Lilly. Nothing new having occur'd
since I last did myself the Pleasure of writing
to you, I shall not add, but that I remain,
as always, Dr. Sir,
