Dear Brother,

I have just Time p Capt. White who is on the Eve of de-
parture, to inform you that your Letter of 12 June reached
me Yesterday, which I am obliged to reply to more briefly
than I could wish. I am chagrined that you did not receive
my Father's Packet p Capt Esten, the Reason I am unable to
account for, the Capt most assuredly had it from the Accomptg
House. I accompanied him, & Passengers to Gravesend, & think
I can almost vouch for it's being aboard the Ship at that Place,
at least my Memory deceives me greatly if it was not. I am
concern'd for the Disappoitment, & wich it could have been reme-
-died. I remark your Reasons for not returning to England p
[torn, illegible] Virginia, & am persuaded that I am acquainted with the
Cause, which is very justifiable, at present I think your
Presence is to be dispensed with for other Considerations, as
most of our Trade who have sailed, have sent Powers to Virga.
in order to secure their Effects, in which Case for want of an
Agent we might considerably suffer, provided we have Connex-
-ions with the needy ones. I am at a Loss for words to express my
Pleasure since I perused your last to my Father, it gives me the strongest Idea
that you are convinced of the Plausibility of his Precepts, & God
grant that you may never incur his Displeasure again, which
may be attended with many disagreeable Circumstances. I intimated
this in a Light that I wish it may be understood in. Pray offer
my Love to my dear Sister, & let her know I am pleased that
the Coffee which I sent her p Capt. Esten proved worth her Aceptce.

hereafter when anything occurs that I think it worth sendg
I shall enjoy great pleasure in addressing the same to
those whom I am so earnestly induced to have a partial
Affection for. I remain with the profoundest Regard,

Your loving Brother, Geo: F: Norton.

All the Family unite in
Love to you both ~
wishing that this may find
my Sister safe in the Straw
