Virginia July 15. 1777
Messrs. John Norton & Sons
Gentn.
For some time past I have been very uneasie for
want of an oppertunity to make an annual remittance
to a Sister of mine that might severely feel the want
of it, I imbrace this by Capt Sinclair to the Islands who
promises to forward the letter by differant bottoms, and so
request the singular favour of you to have inquiry made
at one Mr Adderleys a procter at No 8 in Bell yard Doctors
Commons for Mrs. Ann Butcher (if liveing) to pay her the
proceeds of my four hhds Tobacco by Capt Robinson and to
take her own personal receipt for the same, shoud any -
accident have happen'd to her be pleased to keep it in your
hands, as I am unacquainted with her husband I am
under no obligation to him, especially as these very -
distressful times may occasion my own real want of it,
the good you may doe will plead excuse for the trouble
you are at on my account. I am with regard
